Dear Mentor:
Can I hurry up the visa for college in Canada? |
I am a resident of Karachi, Pakistan. I went through the section of Canadian immigration-
student visa/req'ts at your site and was pretty impressed and satisfied because everything
of my interest was present there. However, there are still just a few questions that I'd like
to ask you. Actually I have got admission in Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The acceptance letter is also with me, and all other requirements are also fulfilled. But the
crucial thing is that the visa can take more than 3 months. I have to report to the university
by September 4, but by then my visa to Canada will not be in my hand. Can you please
suggest me something so that my visa process can be hurried up? Waiting for your reply.

Dear Canada Bound:
Congratulations on your acceptance at Dalhousie University! Also, we would like to thank you for
your kind comments about our portal.
You must at once initiate the visa process with the Canadian High Commission, if you have not
already done so. The visa process should not take 3 months, unless there are complications.
The Canadian High Commission is fully aware of when the academic session begins. To avoid
complications, you must ensure that your application is complete with all supporting
documentation. The most common reason for complications is the evidence of financial resources
to sustain oneself through one’s stay in Canada. Make sure that you have good documentary
evidence for financial means.
Although the classes may begin on September 4, the late registration process continues 2 weeks
past the start date. Although you would miss 2 weeks of classes, you would still be allowed to join
the program. If you really are pressed for time, you can have Dalhousie University send you a
letter of extension in which the absolute deadline for arrival would be the same as the last day of
late registration. Good luck!
