Dear Swedish Doc 2B from India:
We can appreciate your challenge and difficulty. Many schools in India, if not most, do not yet have websites. Additionally, the system is bureaucratic and not very responsive; you get bounced around on the phone from one person to another.
India has hundreds of medical schools, but you have to be careful in selecting one. Some of the best medical schools are government schools. Many private schools demand a substantial sum of money for admission. This should be a flag for you to reject such schools, since they are more interested in making money and less in your learning.
We at iMahal do not conduct rankings of schools. We rely on independent sources for such information. The practice of ranking colleges in not all that common in India. However, you may wish to review the
Rankings of Medical Schools in India in the
iMahal Education Section. We also have a
List of Medical Schools in India, though the list of website links is rather limited.
Another way to gather information is to contact alumni of a medical college in Pune (example website:
B. J. Medical College), and email them to ask for information about the college they attended as well as about other medical colleges in Pune.
