Dear Mentor:
Please rank the best biology programs by GRE scores. |
I am doing my post-graduation in molecular biology in India. I want to do my PhD in the US. I would like to know the universities ranked according to the GRE [Graduate Record Exam] score needed for admission in a PhD in molecular biology and related fields and the scholarships possible. I am going to take the GRE and TOEFL [Test of English as a Foreign Language] this month. What will be the last date for submitting the completed applications?

Dear Ranking by GRE:
College rankings in the US are conducted by various independent sources. You can find
College Rankings for Science Colleges in the US, as well as the
List of Science Colleges in the US, in the
iMahal Education Channel. Typically, each ranking is conducted based on several dimensions, such as: the GRE scores, assessment by recruiters, quality of research, class sizes, cost of education, and so on. We are not aware of rankings done solely on the basis of the GRE scores.
The GRE is a critical and important element of the selection process for admissions. The
iMahal College Finder in the iMahal Education Channel does something similar to what you are asking. The
iMahal College Finder identifies colleges that are most suitable to your GRE scores; that is, it has a built-in ranking of colleges based on the GRE scores.
As you may know, the TOEFL is a threshold test for assessing your knowledge of the English language; that is, you are expected to score above a certain threshold, set by individual schools, to be considered for admission. The amount by which you exceed the threshold score for the TOEFL is irrelevant.
